A 14-year-old class six pupil at Inchaban in Shama District of the Western Region died last Wednesday after she allegedly attempted to abort a six-month pregnancy.

According to reports, the deceased, Yaa Antwiwah met her untimely death after she consumed some concoction in an attempt to terminate the pregnancy.

According to sources, Yaa Antwiwah sought the assistance of some friends who purportedly prepared the concoction for her to abort the pregnancy.

A source at Nchaban also told DAILY GUIDE that the girl, after comsuming the alleged concoction, started bleeding profusely and shouted for help.

DAILY GUIDE learnt that the deceased was quickly rushed to the Effia-Nkwanta Regional Hospital in Sekondi by her auntie who was in the house for medical treatment.

The paper gathered that the girl needed blood transfusion because she was short of blood.

The authorities revealed that the concoction had destroyed the organs in the stomach.

Sources said the girl passed away before the blood was brought for transfusion.

Some of the residents at Nchaban also alleged that the guy who impregnated her, might have administered the abortion drug to the innocent girl.

They said the girl later became indisposed and that the parents, who did not know about the matter, took it to be ordinary malaria and gave her some drugs.

It is believed that those drugs exacerbated the situation.

Attempts by DAILY GUIDE to speak with the parents were unsuccessful.

However, the Shama District Chief Executive,  Enoch Kojo Appiah told DAILY GUIDE that he was yet to verify the story.

Meanwhile, a friend of the deceased, who pleaded anonymity, told the paper that the deceased was her only friend.

According to the friend, she was not aware that Antwiwah was pregnant.

She claimed the deceased might have sought the assistance of someone, who prepared the supposed concoction for her to terminate the pregnancy.

'I learnt she bled a little but the entire foetus was not destroyed.

The saddened friend of the deceased could not hold back her tears and wonder why Antwiwah kept the issue confidential.
