Accra, Feb. 17, GNA - M.S. Ramaiah University of Applied Sciences in India has introduced to Ghanaians and the West African sub-region, a range of contemporary PhD programmes described as unique, relevant and focused on applied research.

The Indian University is doing this in collaboration with Ghana Telecom University College (GTUC), a technology-based institution with excellence in education, research, teaching, intellectual creativity and innovation.

'As part of the process, series of activities have been held to interact with the public and also give information about the programme offerings,' a statement from the Public Relations Office of GTUC and copied to the Ghana News Agency said.

'The events took place at three GTUC campuses and learning centres across the country specifically in Accra, Kumasi and Takoradi,' it said.

According to the statement the focus was to inform Ghanaians on the need for personal development and the need to contribute to building the human resource capacity of the nation.

'The collaboration has come to confirm GTUC's commitment to the delivery of quality tertiary education to Ghanaians and the sub-region,' it said.

The statement quoted the Vice Chancellor of M.S. Ramaiah University, Professor Shankapal, as saying the vision of the university was to offer Ghanaians and the sub-region PhD programmes that are unique, relevant and focused on applied research.

'The university intends to make its programmes highly accessible and comparatively cheaper,' he said.

'I take this opportunity to invite all potential students to apply to our programmes and also encourage faculty members at GTUC to take advantage of the opportunity and enroll in order to promote our common goals and interest for the ultimate improvement in the education sector of the country,' he said.

The university is set to offer programmes such as Management and Commerce, Engineering and Technology, Dental Sciences, Pharmaceutical and Alternative Medicines, Hospitality Management, Catering Technology, Art and Design and Science and Humanities.
