As education remains the bedrock in the success story of most great men and women, it has become imperative to seize every opportunity available to inspire young ones to make a difference in life.

Subject to this clarion call, the Global Volunteers Group on February 13, organised an educational seminar at the Methodist Church in Prampram that saw in attendance some basic schools within the municipality. The seminar dubbed “redefining rural education, the plight of the needy student” was meant to edify students on the need to embrace education.

Speaking at the occasion, the president of National Union of Students (NUGS) Mr. Dzitse Prosper, challenged students to be willing to serve others if they want to succeed. He noted that, for one to pass his examination “the family you comes from matters not”. As a 'father' of all students in the country, he reiterated his commitment to the plight of students urging them to remain obedient, respectful whilst keeping faith with God. As a means of further motivating the students, he distributed four of his books on leadership, to students who listened with keen attention and asked questions.

Other speakers including Emmanuel .A. Asieme, Dennis Woruka, Prince Akpah, Appertey Samuel and A. A. Jeffrey gave students reason to believe that they were created in the likeness of God and that, God has a purpose for creating them as such. They persistently reminded students on the need to believe and accept one-self for who they are in order that they could remain resolute psychologically in their pursuit of their educational career.

Charway John NII, the president of the Global Volunteer Group who happens to be a native of that community expressed his heart felt indebtedness to the various teachers and headteachers, speakers and organizes of the seminar for helping make the seminar a success. He admonished students to take all said into practice because he was once seated in a class like them. He opined that, 'if I could make it why can't you”.

He expressed commitment on behalf of the group in turning the fortunes of the community round by subsequently organizing similar programmes to help change the attitudes and mindset of people within the municipality towards education.
