Qatar 2022 Organises ‘’kick Ebola Out’’ Art Exhibition At Afcon 2015

The Qatar 2022 Girls' Village Project has organized a fundraising art exhibition event in Malabo, Equatorial Guinea, aimed at creating awareness and raising global support to kick the deadly ebola disease out of Africa.

The Art Exhibition was on the sidewalks of the ongoing African Cup of Nations (Afcon) tournament in the oil rich Central African nation.

Qatar 2022 Girls' Village Project, which is an initiative of the Kunata Voluntary Organisation, is a programme aimed to provide future, welfare and social security to disadvantaged girls and children in Africa through skill training, advocacy, protection, and research.

The president of the Project, Mr Yahaya Alhassan, who was in Malabo to launch the Art Exhibition, praised President Obiang Nguema Mbasogo of Equatorial Guinea for what he described as “his statesmanship role in accepting to host the African Cup of Nation”

“We dedicated the exhibition to the good people of Equatorial Guinea for repositioning African football to the world stage which is a victory against ebola” he said.

Some of the paintings paraded for the exhibition honor the medical workers who have sacrificed their lives to save people. One painting had the inscription “you've picked the wrong world to mess with” in reference to the disease in Africa.

Notable personalities who received the art works on ebola included President Obiang and Teodoro Nguema Obiang Mangue, the first deputy prime minister, the minister of trade and business promotion, Mr. Celestino Bonifacio Bakale Obiang, minister of public works and infrastructures, Mr. Juan Nko Mbula.

The rest are minister of youth and sports, Mr. Francisco Pascual Obama Asue, minister of mining, industry and energy, Mr. Gabriel Mbega Obiang Lima and minister of finance and budgets, Mr. Marcelino Owono Edu.
