Flagbearer of Independent People's Party in the 2012 general elections, Mr. Kofi Akpaloo has expressed worry at the increase in unemployment especially among the youth in the country over the years. He has however pledged to assist local industries to help them expand their operations in order to employ more people. According to him it is only when those industries are supported that will enable them to employ more people to work with and due to that, his government will do its best to assist them either with loans or guarantee for them to acquire equipments.

Mr. Akpaloo speaking to the reporter said his party has putting down policies that will support local industries which will be implemented when voted into power come 2016 and therefore called on ghanaians to vote massively for the IPP. He emphasised that his government would always invest more in local business in order to help them earn more and also expand their businesss to employ others. He was worried that due to the problems confronting local businesses they are not able to even produce more whiles those who does produce in large quantities also have problem with marketing because there is no money to buy their goods.

He stressed that the time has come for ghanaians to patronise local made goods and thinks it is possible if we support industries to produce more and also help to improve the quality of their products. "We will improve activities of local businesses in order to help them produce quality products for ghanaians to patronise since that will help keep the money here instead of always importing from other countries" he said.

Mr Akpaloo however callled on the Ghana Education service and the ministry of education to allow school children plait their hair instead of forcing them to always cut it down. He advised the public to deny the notion that such children turns out to be disrespectful but rather encourage it because it also promotes the activities of hair dressers and saloons.

Mr. Kofi Akpaloo therefore appealed to ghanaians to consider the IPP as the third political force by giving them the mandate to govern the country in 2017.
