Accra - 23rd January, 2015 - The Chief Executive Officer of Vivo Energy Group, Mr. Christian Chammas has cut the sod for the expansion of the Airport Shell Service Station located in Ghana's high-class urban city enclave in Accra during his two-day visit to the country.

The ceremony, which was witnessed by retailers and top management officials of Vivo Energy including the Chief Finance Officer of Vivo Energy Group, Mr. Johan Depraetere was held at the construction site adjacent to the Airport Shell Service Station.

The Airport Shell Service Station, Ghana's most popular and busiest fuel station, is noted for its excellent customer service. When the expansion is complete it will have a quick service restaurant; an extended forecourt with 18 filling points; an ATM farm; a first class tyre service centre; an ultra-modern drive through washing bay; and specialised shops such as a pharmacy, gift shop, travel and tour operator (among others).

In his speech, Mr Chammas said the Accra Airport city was growing fast and as a company committed to the changing needs of its customers, Vivo Energy was expanding the Airport Shell Service Station to meet new trends and the growing demands of this dynamic community.

“We are investing in our most visited station, and upgrading it to meet world class standards and to offer our customers the best of fuels, services and convenience retailing. Our aim is to provide an exceptional retail experience at each and every one of our service stations, reaching more people with better products and services wherever we do business. We are investing substantially in making this ambition a reality by refurbishing existing service stations, building new (with shops) and improving operational excellence across all of our sites” said Mr. Chammas.

Vivo Energy is committed to investing around $300 million of capital in the next three years to fuel Africa's growth. With over 1,500 service stations in Africa and ambitious plans for rapid expansion, the company is harnessing the reputation of the Shell brand to bring high-quality products to the widest audience and set new benchmarks for innovation, convenience, service and reliability wherever it operates. In 2014 Vivo Energy invested heavily in Ghana, opening 24 new service stations across the country – more openings than in any of its other 15 countries across Africa.

Vivo Energy's close relationship with Shell, one of the most widely recognized and respected brands in Africa, enables the company to access the Shell brand's unique combination of quality, technology and efficiency for the broadest base of retail and commercial customers.

Mr. Chammas used the occasion to thank Ghanaians for showing consistent confidence in the services offered by the company and for selecting the Shell brand.

As part of his visit, he also opened the new Shell refresh shop at motorway and opened new Shell Service Stations at Tabora, Agboba and Pantang.
