Tilijootob For Mahama In Replies The Mischievous Spin By Konkombas Tikpaan For New Patriotic Party
22.01.2015 LISTEN

Our friends from the press, invited guest, ladies and gentlemen. TILIJOOTOB is group form by NDC youth in KIKPAKPALN( Konkomba land) to showcase the interest of John Mahama and NDC.As a political group, wehave noted with great concern that there are some elements within the Konkombas ethnic group in Ghana, who want to use the entire Konkombas for their own political gains. On the 15th of January, 2015, one of such groups, with the name; TIKPAAN 4 NPP issued a press statement, captioned; “An Attempt to buy off the Konkomba Front, Mahama has failed”.

What is wrong with Mr. Mbui Roland Kofi's appointment as presidential Assistant?

Mr. Kofi Mbui was elected as KOYA 1st vice president in 2011, and subsequently as president in 2013 by the general assembly Konkombas at the annual KOYA convention. His contribution as KOYA President is unprecedented and every well-meaning konkomba can attest to that.

He has chocked a lot of successes during his tenure. His hard work as the KOYA President has gained him both internal and external recognition. He has been able to prevent, solve and mediate in several inter and intra tribal conflicts. Because of his hard work, the President Mahama recognized him and appointed him as a Presidential Assistant. His appointment has brought smiles on most Konkombas especially those who have worked with him. This is a person who stood for all Konkombas no matter your political affiliation. Because of his hard work, during the 2012 election, he was able to breach the gap between Gonjas and Konkombas.

Some elements in NPP for their parochial interest and tribal body politics told all the Konkombas in the country that, Konkombas should not vote for John Mahama and the NDC, because Mahama was a Gonja and when he wins power he will promote his tribe to fight Konkombas. But, Roland who was then KOYA President stood for peace and went round the whole country with the secretary and the vice secretary then, to tell both Konkombas and Gonjas to ignore that, since we were all brothers. They used all available media to dispel this unfortunate statement just for the sake of peace and national security. we think this went a long way to strengthen the relationship between Konkombas and Gonjas.

On the issue of KOYA President (Mbui Roland Kofi) criticizing Mahama for ignoring Konkombas in 2013 in ministerial appointments, he did that as a leader devoid of partisan politics as leadership demands. He was not the only executive member who could stamp his authority over other executives and do what interest him alone, but then, to take collective decisions. He was only making a passionate appeal to the President to consider appointing Konkombas into his administration. This was a KOYA gathering where he made this appeal. He has never mounted any platform to criticize the President for ignoring Konkombas. For those who thought he criticize president Mahama for his own selfish gain had it all wrong.

Mahama and Konkombas
It is true that three Konkombas were given appointments under Kufuor's eight years administration, but it's not true that NDC and Mahama led administration has failed or ignored Konkombas. This is what the NDC and Mahama did for konkombas,

1. Hon. Moses Bukari Mabegbaan was made Northern deputy regional minister under H. E. the late Atta Mills, and subsequently made a substantive regional minister.

2. Hon. Likpalmor Tewia was made minister of state in charge of scholarship.

3. President Mahama also appointed Hon. Moses Bukari Mabengban as an Ambassador to Angola in the second term of the NDC. The first Konkomba man to become an Ambassador.

4. President Mahama appointed Nayoon Bilijo as minister for fishery and aquaculture during his first year in office.

5. Mahama also appointed Hon. Mbui Kofi Roland as a Special Assistant to the Office of President at the flagstaff house.

6. It's during Mahama's regime that the mouth piece of Konkombas (KOYA) was recognized and presented a pick-up to facilitate its activities under the leadership of Mr. Mbui. This is unprecedented and the vehicle will serve all Konkombas including NPPs and not only NDC Konkombas. NPP is aware of it. The association is a peace and development association, and the President was able to recognize its tremendous contributions to national security and development under the leadership of Mbui.

7. To assist Konkomba farmers especially, Mahama is creating a Yam market at the Northern regional capital, Tamale. So that our farmers can have access to market.

8. To open up Konkombas to the rest of the country the Eastern Corridor road is ongoing. About 60% of the users of this road are Konkombas. This will help solve the transportation problem and assist farmers have access to the market centers.

9. To add to the above mentioned points, there are about six Konkombas working at the Presidency in various capacities.

10. It is an undeniable fact that for over eight years, Saboba medical centre was without medical doctors. Several appeals were made to the Ministry of Health under Kuffour's regime but no action was taken. When Mahama assumed office he took two konkombas to sponsor them to read medicine and come back to assist. He has also posted two medical doctors to the hospital as a father of the nation and a friend to Konkombas.

Ladies and gentlemen, if we are to count the number of positions and people in these two political parties with the number of years in power, is these so call Konkomba Youth Group 4 NPP not living in undisclosed caves, isolated from the world of facts and figures? NDC and Mahama have so far made six years out of the eight years and have so far given five key positions to Konkombas as compare to the much touted three positions that this group and some other elements in NPP think NDC is much concerned to Konkombas than NPP.

It's a shame to hear people in this era still preaching tribal politics and ethnocentrism. For those who are arguing that the KOYA President sold Konkombas for his position, they should rather be grateful that Konkombas have been elevated to a place where national decision take place and Konkombas are part of this decision making body.

Ladies and gentlemen we want to use this medium to tell all Konkombas that the time has come for us to rise up and fight this few elements who want to use our name for their own selfish interest. We are Ghanaians and all we need is national development and not tribal politics. We want to plead with the NPP and its leaders that if they don't have anything to offer Ghanaians they should not bring us to logger head with any other tribe.

On the appointment of Mbui, all the Chiefs and well meaning Konkombas are very grateful to the President for elevating Konkombas to that high position which is first in history. They are proud of Mbui and know he can deliver to the development of this nation. Long live Ghana, long live NDC, and long live Mbui.
