Stop blackmailing Gambaga-Nalerigu DCE - Northern NDC executives warn

The Northern Regional Executive Committee of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) has issued a strong warning to constituency executives who incite their youth against district chief executives.

The regional executives equally condemned constituency executives who blackmail DCEs in their area and asked them to desist from the ignorable act or face the disciplinary committee of the party.

The  party's reaction comes  in the wake of a two-week ultimatum by some constituency executives for Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency demanding the removal of their District Chief Executive Adam Imoro  by the President.. 

The constituency secretary of the party Iddrisu Sampa and the chairman in a four-page press statement threatened to mobilize party foot soldiers to hit the streets if the president fails to adhere to their demand.

The statement attracted avalanche of criticisms from some constituency and regional executives of the party, condemning the constituency secretary and chairman.

NDC Northern Regional Secretary Khalid Rauf in a statement signed and copied to Joy News described the attitude of the Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency chairman and his secretary as “unacceptable and insubordination to the highest order which must be condemned”.

He indicated the two have no locus to make such demands and should therefore be disregarded.

“We are reliably informed that the press conference was staged by some few executives of the party in Gambaga/Nalerigu constituency, for lack of knowledge of the Constitution of this country people will be pushed to that far, it is the prerogative of the president to choose who he wants to be district chief executive. It is not the duty of party constituency executives to issue ultimatums to the president to remove DCEs, press conferences do not remove or make DCEs.”

The Regional Secretary therefore demanded the executives to withdraw the statement as a matter of principle and follow the laid down internal procedures of outlining grievances.

“The party constitution Article 46 clearly states how internal grievances of the party can be resolved, resulting to the media is a disregard for the party constitution and this can be described as blackmail,” he stated.

The statement also asked prospective parliamentary aspirant campaigning at the branch level to desist from the practice because it is unhealthy.
