22.01.2015 LISTEN

Accra, January 20, 2015 - MTN Ghana, Ghana's mobile telecommunications giant, is living up to its promise of delivering superior quality service to its customers. The latest monitoring released by the National Communications Authority on Quality of Service in Western and Central Regions indicate that MTN Ghana exceeded the threshold requirements of the NCA.

The Quality of Service test is conducted regularly by the NCA selected regions throughout the year in the country to monitor the quality of services offered by telecommunication operators in Ghana.

Favourable results for Western and Central Regions mean that from January to November 2014, MTN passed all Quality of Service (QoS) monitoring tests conducted by the National Communications Authority (NCA) in all ten regions. QoS monitoring is conducted by the NCA to ensure that telecom operators comply with the quality of service obligations set out in their licenses. Five indicators are used in the monitoring exercise against which MTN Ghana performed creditably. The indicators are; Call Setup Time, SDCCH Congestion Rate, TCH Congestion Rate, Call Drop Rate and Call Completion Rate.

The NCA in its report noted that “the speech quality on MTN in the Western and Central Regions is rated good”.

Speaking on the Quality of Service monitoring results, Hendrik Vorster, Chief Technical Officer MTN Ghana, said,“It is indeed comforting to know that the NCA report attests to benefits of significant investments MTN Ghana is making in the network to bring the best service to its customers. MTN Ghana is motivated by this development to constantly improve upon its network.”

MTN Ghana is plugged into the objective to transform Ghana into a knowledge-based society and technology-driven economy.
