The Progressive People's Party (PPP) has successfully elected its regional officers in the Brong-Ahafo Region in congress held over the weekend at the Sunyani Polytechnic.

Seth Gomnah, a former Convention People's Party (CPP) Regional Treasurer, was elected unopposed as the new Regional Chairman of the PPP.

Other regional officers who were also elected unopposed were: Emmanuel Oduro, Organiser; Clement Kadaaga Jnr, Treasurer; Faustina Boahemaa, Women's Organiser; Bernice Quampah, Deputy Women's Organiser; Elvis Adjei, Youth Organiser and Sumaila Ibrahim, Education Officer.

The party's members contested for the Regional Vice Chairmanship and the Deputy Regional Organiser positions.

Prince Kwasi Adumata obtained 450 votes to beat two other contenders, Diabuo Kei and Samuel Mensah, who polled 47 and 83 votes respectively to become the vice chairman of the party in the region. There were 49 rejected ballots.

Alima Nyameke was elected Deputy Regional Organiser after polling a total of 515 ballots to beat David Aziri, who polled only 64 votes.

Forty three votes were rejected.
However, no party member contested for the Regional Secretary position, which remained vacant.

In all, about 600 delegates cast their ballot in an election supervised by a team from the Electoral Commission (EC), led by the Deputy Regional Director, Samuel Boadu.

Addressing the delegates, the Communications Liaison Officer of the PPP, Charles Owusu commended the party's members, the security and the media for playing significant role to ensure successful election.

Mr. Owusu called for unity in the party and tasked the newly-elected regional officers to ensure that the PPP captures at least 10 parliamentary seats in the Brong-Ahafo Region in the next general elections.

According to the Media Liaison Officer, the suffering Ghanaians were tired of the corrupt Mahama-led National Democratic Congress (NDC) administration.

He indicated that the time has come for the PPP to take over because it's the only alternative.

The chairman-elect, Mr. Gomnah assured the party's faithful that he and his officers would not let them down and would do everything possible to make the PPP formidable and attractive in the region to increase their votes in the region.
