The Adofo, Quartey, Biney, Dwamena-Nyanteh, Akuffo-Parry, Adumea, Ampaw, Akurang-Parry, and Asa-Awuku families announce with profound sorrow the passing of Nana Amma Ansaa Sasraku, Queen-mother of Mamfe-Akuapem, and Kyidohemaa of Akuapem.

Born Margaret Ariel Amma Ansaa Opare in Mamfe, on January 4, 1930, she enjoyed a wonderful life and lived it with exceptional grace, class, style and vitality. She excelled in the nursing school and in 1952, earned a scholarship for further training at the Royal School of Nursing in London from 1952 to 1956. In 1959, she married the love of her life, Mr. C.G. Kumi also of Mamfe, in a grand wedding at Achimota church.

Mrs. Margaret Kumi worked diligently and demonstrated exceptional leadership that by the early 1970s, she was transferred to the Ministry of Health to serve as the Deputy Director responsible for Psychiatric Nursing. From 1986 until her retirement in 1990, she was also the Director of Nursing Services in Ghana. In that capacity, she traveled extensively in Ghana and abroad to participate in conferences related to nursing care and mental health in Ghana.
