JAN 7, 2015 LISTEN

Mrs Mary Safua, wife of Hon. Haruna Iddrisu, Tamale South MP cum Employment and Labour minister, visited the Tamale Children's Home to donate items. This is the third time in row she has visited the orphanage on Boxing Day each year since 2012.

Like any of her other visits, she donated an assortment of provisions and eatables: bags of rice and sugar, gallons of cooking oil, cartons of milk and milo, packs of detergents and diapers, baby cots and mattresses and undisclosed amount of money.

However, she decided to make the children happier this year by preparing and packaging a sumptuous meal with chicken in takeaway containers for them. Indeed, she made their day as each tummy went gay by mummy's yummy dishy (sic).

Her reason to get into the kitchen to rejuvenate the taste buds of these children could be felt passionately in her speech. She said, "The last time I came here, I saw something which keeps flashing my face each time I put food on the table for my children. A child took a chicken thigh, waved it (as if to say 'thank you lord') and smiled broadly".

Mrs Haruna's quest to identify with the underprivileged in the society could be conflagrated by the ideals and principles already championed by her husband.

She called on civil societies and individuals with the wherewithal to support the course in grooming and growing deprived children especially in orphanages.
