The Certainty Of Prophesy

The Certainty Of Prophesy
29.12.2014 LISTEN

Dear reader,
As we all move into 2015, please let no one hoodwink you-1 John 3:7; 2 Thessalonian 2:3. It once happened to my close neighbour on a day he was told that his church leader is a false prophet. That day, my neighbour almost pulled out the hairs on his head if not for two reasons. One was because, the previous day, he had just shaved his hairs to the skin; the 2nd was because he is my neighbour, which means he cannot escape being re-informed what is actually in the scripture.

Do not blame my neighbour. The reason is that in one way or another, if not most, many of us respond in similar way. My neighbour resorted to violent response because in his thinking, how would a human brand his beloved idol “a false prophet.” It was a prompt intervention that stemmed the situation from degenerating when my neighbour was asked if he had come across the definition of a false prophet in the scripture- Deut. 18:18-22; Jeremiah 28:7-9.

It did not take long before my neighbour began to recount a backlog of prophesies from many years of services especially the end and beginning of the year services. That day my neighbour realized that it was the scripture that calls his pastor a false prophet-Deuteronomy 18:18-22; Jeremiah 28:7-9. I sympathized with my neighbour as he struggled to accept the reality that pastors deceive their brethren with false prophesies.

It remains less than four days before 2015 and before more false prophesies and false prophets emerge as was in 2014 and the years before. The job of false prophets is to pollute nations with lies, strengthen the hands of evil doers and mislead as many brethren as are within their grip-Jeremiah 23:14-15.

When a prophecy is linked to Adonai it connotes certainty of occurrence of the event/s spoken about. The prophecy that springs from Adonai does not and can never fail. Such is the certainty of the Lord's word that the Angel declared to Mary: “…no word from the Lord will ever fail.” The certainty of a prophecy also proved a turning point in the life of Isaac when the Lord provided himself a lamb for the offering-Genesis 22:8.

If a prophecy comes from any other source than Adonai, it may, but most likely will not come into fruition. False prophecy is like a barrel roof or rolling waters. Its occurrence is never stable and may never happen as it comes not from Adonai. This explains why we have a litany of prophecies from deceitful prophets from America to Africa; and from Europe to Asia.

During the encounter with my neighbour, we went further to explore one prophecy in which his pastor said (he heard from Adonai) that “there will be a major scientific breakthrough in 2014.” My neighbour became stranded when he was asked to explain how he measures a scientific achievement; who does the achievement - a black, yellow or white person; from which corner of the globe-Nigeria, Congo, Mali, Libya, Botswana, Burkina Faso; in what form is the breakthrough coming from…?

Is there any difference between this scientific prophecy and a declaration that “there will be sunshine and rainfall in 2015?” But this and many of such vague statements are what pulpits personalities offer our neighbours who let out a hefty and prolonged HALLELLUYAH in acceptance and appreciation that the pastor clearly heard Adonai. Year in and out scientists invent things that add value to civilization just as sunshine or rainfall is a surety in any season.

All prophets who speak of a specific event within the same time frame must arrive at the same conclusion. If Prophet A in Syria sees a green 2015, prophet C in Haiti must also see a green 2015. If Prophet B in Soweto sees a Purple 2015 instead of green, by default A and C or B is a false prophet. If 2015 turns out to be a red year, prophets A, C and B are automatically false prophets.

When prophet A prophesies, no force can prevent that event from happening; it is only Adonai that has the power through A (if A remains alive and faithful) to stop or make amend the prophecy. E.g. if A prophesies that all the wicked and corrupt African rulers will be removed by 2016, there is absolutely no force anywhere that will prevent it from happening as long as it come from a true prophet.

If B prophesies that in December 2015 the world population will shrink to 1 Billion, no force anywhere on earth can make it not to happen. If C prophesies peace throughout the whole world for 30 years, as long as Adonai has said so, wars will cease for that period regardless of immense and reckless provocations. Such is the power and certainty of prophesy; it is how the word of Adonai works.

This is the reason Adonai said: “I have heard what the prophets have said who prophesy falsely in My name, saying, 'I had a dream, I had a dream!'…Behold, I am against the prophets, who use their tongues and declare, 'The Lord declares.' Behold, I am against those who have prophesied false dreams and related them and led My people astray by their falsehoods and reckless boasting; yet I did not send them or command them, nor do they furnish this people the slightest benefit,” declares the Lord-Jeremiah 23:15-32.

Experiences of others are the best teachers. There is a way which seems right to man but the end thereof is the way of death-Proverbs 14:12. A lesson from false Prophet Hananiah-Jeremiah 28:1-17 is a lesson for all brethren.

May the Peace and mercy from Adonai be unto all who resisted odds and extended kindness to our neighbours in 2014!
