Ashanti Regional Minister Warns Criminals On Xmas Holidays

Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, Ashanti Regional Minister, has extended a strong signal to caution potential criminals who may want to take advantage of the long holidays to engage in crimes to revise their notes as quickly as possible.

He said as Chairman of the Regional Security Council, they were determined to make the price of crime very expensive for criminals to patronize during this Christmas and the New Year periods.

Dr. Samuel Sarpong issued this firm warning at a dinner dance held at the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC) in Kumasi during a press interaction.

Crime in the region and most part of the country usually, increase in alarming rates during such seasons, which according to the minister, needs an urgent attention to address it to better peace building.

"As the chairman of the Security Council we have implemented measures through the regional security forces to fight and ensure a crime-free Christmas season," he assured.

He also advised potential criminals to quickly reverse the gear in their attempts of engaging in any crime or robbery during this Christmas season.

Dr. Sarpong, however, thanked the media, major stakeholders through whose collaboration and support went a long way to help the Ashanti Region.

He urged the media, to work harder next year with transformational resolutions.

Touching on road accidents, the minister advised both short and long distance drivers to observe road traffic regulations to avoid road accidents.

"Also to business men and women, he encouraged them to go about their normal duties without fear, but reminded them to be cautious of personal safety especially during the night."
