Ashanti regional Minister, Hon. Dr. Samuel Sarpong, has expressed appreciation to His Royal majesty Otumfuo Osei Tutu II and also to the regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, for their continuous commitment and support towards the development of the region throughout the year 2014.

Dr. Sarpong, extended this appreciation of the Regional Coordinating Council (RCC), and that of the regional Security Council to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II for his wise counseling and guidance throughout the year under review.

According to him, Otumfuo has been very supportive to the council, and also gave him and his outfit the needed help to promote and develop Asanteman.

Dr. Sarpong made these remarks when he interacted with the press in the Ashanti-Region on Tuesday December 23rd at the Kumasi RCC. This was an informal interaction with the press as a means of appreciating the press, a major stakeholder in development in the region.

Also in attendance was the deputy Ashanti Regional Minister, Hon. Joseph Yammin, among other high dignitaries including some DCEs and MMCEs, who danced the day off to some good musical tunes while eating and drinking.

The minister speaking at the dinner said, the festive season presents yet another unique opportunity for people all over the world to pause and take a sober reflection on memories of joy, thought provoking sense of unity and emotional feelings that characterized the birth of Christ.

"From the context of the Bible, Christmas marked the birth of Christ; it therefore stands to reason that the period creates a platform not only for us to enjoy but according to him, also to be guided by the mission of his birth and the lessons within that constitute the cardinal principles of our very existence on this earth," the minister said.

He went on to add that this called for the need to make new resolutions whilst we look back to take stock of our activities on the past year.

I believed this will enable us to make amendments of the challenges we encountered and reinforce our drawn up strategies that underpinned our successes."

He also used the occasion to commend the security apparatus and the Regional Police Commander, DCOP Nathan Kofi Boakye, popularly known as `Commander One`, for his exceptional pro-activeness in the fight against crime in the region.
