Men filling potholes just behind the scoreboard area of Baba Yara stadium on Friday morning

Some bad roads in Kumasi, the Ashanti Regional capital that had virtually been neglected for some years now, have received attention, thanks to the upcoming national delegates' congress of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Some of the roads are located just behind the scoreboard of the Baba Yara Stadium, venue of the congress, slated for today.

DAILY GUIDE spotted some men busily working on this poor road network Friday morning, barely 24 hours before the congress. All the dangerous pot holes were seen being filled.

Similar works were being done on some other deplorable roads in front of the Unity Oil, Asokwa branch, which is also close to the stadium.

These roads lead to the Baba Yara Sports Stadium so observers say the party's big wigs, including the president who would converge on Kumasi today, might use them.

The roads were partially closed as the men filled the dangerous potholes which make driving on such roads uncomfortable.

The seriousness that the men attached to their work gave a clear indication that they were working under extreme pressure.

Some of the residents of the city that spoke to this paper wondered why the roads had not received such attention all these years until the time was zeroing in for the congress.

'The NDC government has taken the people of Kumasi for granted. President Mahama and his administration think we do not deserve anything good in this city in particular and the Ashanti Region in general, until they are going to organize an activity here,' a woman who gave her name as Afia Amponsah observed.
