20.12.2014 LISTEN

The campaign of NDC Chairmanship contender; Alhaji Hudu Yahaya say they will never succumb to pressures from the Presidency for their man to step down.

They tell rawgist.com there have been incessant efforts from some vested interests within the Presidency to get Alhaji Hudu Yahaya to step down since they observed he has a bright chance at winning the race.

“The President and others within the top brass of government have never supported Alhaji. They are now asking him to step down over tribal considerations but it will not work”, a leading member of the campaign, Ben Mingle voiced out to rawgist.com.

Spokesman for Alhaji Hudu Yahaya, Braima Mahama who confirmed the allegation to rawgist.com intimated that the Presidency has supported some people with northern descent who have already won. He says however that certain key people within the Presidency are now stifling his campaign in order to allow people from other regions to win.

“They say they do not want it to look like the party is being headed only by northerners and for that matter they are backing some from the Western region and other regions”, he said adding that he will not fail the people who have placed their confidence in him by stepping down at this time in the campaign when victory is so close.

Currently the NDC is in Kumasi to elect National Executive who would steer the party's affairs for the next four years. With a few hours to the election, things are getting really heated up especially for those contesting the Chairmanship position as well as the National organizer position as they reckon anything can happen in these last moments.
