Anti-Riot Police will be deployed to the Baba Yara Stadium in Kumasi to maintain law and order during the National Democratic Congress (NDC) delegates' congress today.

Addressing the media on Wednesday, DCOP Kofi Boakye, Ashanti Regional Police Commander, admonished NDC faithful that would attend the programme to obey the electoral laws so as to avert any confrontation with the police.

He stated that any person or group of persons that would breach the laws of the land would be arrested and prosecuted.

DCOP Kofi Boakye therefore advised the NDC delegates and supporters to stay out of trouble by comporting themselves.

He explained that the decision of the police to deploy riot control personnel for the event was informed by the huge number of NDC delegates that would converge on the stadium from various parts of the country and the competitive nature of the polls.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander said the police have put measures in place to make the congress successful.

The police, he said, would intensify patrol in and around the city before, during and after the NDC congress to ensure that hoodlums do not take advantage of the situation to attack law-abiding citizens in the region.

DCOP Kofi Boakye charged hotel owners and managers to record the personal information of people that would lodge at their facilities to prevent criminals from carrying out their nefarious activities.
