GRABBED! Samuel Boadi aka 'Bafah' in handcuffs talking to DCOP Kofi Boakye at the crime scene

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has apprehended Samuel Boadi aka 'Bafah', 20, who is believed to have played a crucial role in the shooting to death of Richard Sallah, 39, the Ecobank Branch Manager of Abrepo junction during a robbery expedition at Ahenemma Kokoben in Kumasi, two weeks ago.

Bafah had admitted to the heinous crime and mentioned three other people – Alex, nicknamed 'Tupak', who was allegedly wielding a pump action gun; Emmanuel Asiedu and Yaw, who both allegedly wielded short guns during the robbery – as his accomplices, when he led the police to the crime scene Thursday morning.

  GH¢5,000 Ransom
The police, who are currently in possession of a picture of Emmanuel Asiedu, said to be a brother-in-law of Bafah, had  declared all the three runaway hoodlums wanted with a GH¢5,000 as a reward for anyone who would give information leading to their arrest.

Arrest
DCOP Kofi Boakye, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander who gave a firm assurance that the killers of Mr Sallah would be arrested soon when he visited the deceased banker's house at Ahenemma Kokoben on the day that he was killed, disclosed that Bafah was arrested in his house at Pakyi on Wednesday, December 17.

The police chief said his men conducted extensive investigations after Mr Sallah was cruelly murdered, adding that a compact computer of the deceased as well as a techno mobile phone belonging to the wife of the late Sallah were found on Bafah during his arrest.

Confession
DCOP Kofi Boakye, in order to make sure that indeed Bafah was among the hoodlums that invaded the late Sallah's home at Ahenemma Kokoben on December 5, 2014, Thursday morning ordered the suspect to lead the police and journalists to the crime scene.

Bafah perfectly led the police to Mr Sallah's house where he stunned the police personnel and the media as he willingly demonstrated how he and his accomplices cut the barbed wire, scaled the wall, used car jerk to widen the metal window to enter the living room to shoot Mr Sallah to death.

He claimed that due to his tiny nature, he (Bafah) was the one who entered the room through the window and opened the door to enable his accomplices – Tupac, wielding pump action gun, Emmanuel Asiedu and Yaw, both wielding short guns – to enter the room.

Bafah said after Tupac, who is the leader of the deadly group, and the others had entered the room, he (Bafah) went outside to spy as the others started to ransack the rooms for valuables, adding that he suddenly heard a gunshot, fired by Tupac, which killed Mr Sallah.

According to him, his accomplices – all wearing masks – at gunpoint, ordered Mr Sallah to declare all the money on him in the house and in the course of leading the robbers, he (Sallah) tried removing the mask of Tupac, who instantly fired at him in the face at close range.

Bafah said Tupac, Emmanuel and Yaw then rushed out of the room in possession of an amount of GH¢4,000, one Compaq computer, a Techno Phantom mobile phone, one LCD TV and three other mobile phones belonging to Mr Sallah and they fled the house.

According to Bafah, before invading Mr Sallah's house he and his group forcibly broke into another house at Ahenemma Kokoben where they took away Dell Tablet, Samsung X3 Galaxy phone, four Motorola phones, one Samsung mobile phone and an amount of GH¢400.

DCOP Kofi Boakye told the media that a laptop belonging to Mr Sallah and a Techno mobile phone belonging to his widow were found on Bafah when the police arrested him, and urged the public to feed the police with information that would lead to the arrest of the three other suspects.

He described the three escapee robbers as very deadly who had used guns to terrorise the people of Atasemanso, Ahenemma Kokoben and the nearby areas with their fiendish activities in the past. According to him, Tupac, the group leader, shoots his victims at the least provocation.

DCOP Kofi Boakye therefore admonished the public not to engage the robbers but rather inform the police to arrest them from their hideouts, adding that anyone who would help the police in arresting them would be richer by GH¢5,000.

According to him, investigations so far conducted by the police had proven that Mr Sallah was not a victim of assassination.

He assured that the police in the region would go every length to prevent hoodlums from operating so that the people would go about their legitimate businesses in peace. He stressed that even in rare cases where the robbers succeed in robbing people, the police would arrest them to face the law.
