Police To Ensure Crime- Free X'mas

The Western Regional Police Command is putting measures in place to ensure a crime-free Christmas festivities in the region.

The command has, therefore, warned miscreants who have decided to go on robbery spree during the Christmas festivities in the region to discard that idea.

Personnel of the command have intensified highway patrol as part efforts to fight crime and ensure law and order before, during and after the Christmas festivities.

DCOP Isaac Alex Quainoo, Western Regional Police Commander, disclosed this at a press briefing on Wednesday.

The purpose was to highlight some of the measures put in place by the police in the region to ensure a peaceful yuletide.

He disclosed about 60 police personnel would be deployed within the Sekondi-Takoradi Metropolis during the festive period.

The Regional Police Commander noted that the police personnel would be visible everywhere to ensure that the people went about their activities without being afraid of any attack during Christmas.

He indicated that his men would also be conducting unannounced swoops at the hideouts of suspected criminals, particularly smokers of Indian hemp also called 'wee'.

DCOP Quainoo disclosed that road safety was a shared responsibility and stressed that the police would do all within their power to ensure accident-free Christmas.

He, however, called on pedestrians and the general public to also be extra careful and report to the police any recalcitrant driver.

Police Project
DCOP Quainoo indicated when he assumed office, he pledged to continue and complete all projects started by his predecessor, DCOP Kofi Boakye.

He also indicated that he promised to initiate new projects and that true to his words; he had initiated and completed some other projects.

The Regional Police Commander mentioned the completion of a fence wall project demarcating the land area of the Regional Police Headquarters which was started by DCOP Kofi Boakye.

He disclosed that he had been able to complete an apartment meant to accommodate any regional police commander posted to the region but which was abandoned about eight years ago.

DCOP Quainoo later took journalists round to inspect some of the completed projects.
