Seven orphanages in the country have received donations of food items and an unspecified amount of money from the First Lady, Nana Lordina Mahama. The orphanages include Anfaani and Tamale Children's home; Let the kids smile at Nkoranza, Frank May and Bethesda at Techiman and Osu Children's home and Christ Faith Forster home at Frafraha in Accra.

The donation is an annual affair for the less privileged especially during the festive seasons. The First Lady said her foundation remains committed to supporting these children in the country.

Assorted food items such as bags of rice, sugar, cartons of milk, toiletries and laptops were given to these orphanages. Managers of the orphanages were grateful for the First Lady's gesture. At the Osu children's home, the Manager, Sharon Abbey could not hide her joy. She appealed to corporate organizations to continue to support the home.

It was all joy at the Christ Faith Forster home when the First Lady arrived. The Director Kofi Adu-Boahene was full of praise for the First Lady. He said apart from the festive seasons she occasionally donates items to the home of which they are very grateful.

The First Lady Mrs Lordina Mahama said taking care of the less privileged is her passion. She will therefore continue to support them all through.

The First Lady is also facilitating the building of a children's block to house toddlers to be completed in the middle of next year. She asked contractors on site to work hard and complete the project on schedule.

The inmates of the Gambaga witch camp were not also left out. They received rice, clothing, mats, Milo, cooking oil, and an unspecified amount from the First Lady. Donating the items on behalf of the First Lady, Nana Lordina Mahama, the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Nana Oye Lithur, told the elderly women that the Nana Lordina wants them to also celebrate Christmas as all Ghanaians will do. She said the First Lady is committed to their welfare and is committed to ensuring that they live dignified lives.
