Reverend Timothy Afful of the Foursquare Gospel Church who was reported to have committed suicide has denied the news carried by myjoyonline and The Daily Guide Newspaper on Monday December 15, 2014.

Speaking to yours truly at the headquarters of the church at Mataheko in Accra, he said though story shocked him, it had made him stronger and increased his faith in the Lord Jesus Christ whom he preaches every time According to Pastor Afful, it was true that some body committed suicide, but it was not him and wondered how some media men do not check the fact of their stories before publishing.

He expressed that he had been practising as a man of God for the past 15 years, apart from being a Chartered Accountant with the Ministry of Finance (African Development Desk) as a Financial Management Specialist. He said the sad news had made him received hundreds of calls and wants the world to know that he is alive and kicking. He urged his church members to remain calm and pray for him and the church.

"I am alive and as a child of God, such situations do not discourage me. I give thanks to the Almighty God and even though we sympathise with the bereaved family, we pray that the Press or Media would be accurate in their duties" he stressed.

Pastor Afful 44 who is in charge of the Alive Cathedral of the Foursquare Gospel Church at Tuba, near Kasoa said they celebrated their 40th anniversary recently and such sad new can not demoralize his congregation. The General Overseer of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Ghana, Reverend Christopher Marfo Ahinkora who was present when Afful was narrating his story to yours truly said the church is international in 142 countries and has 50 branches in Ghana.

He noted that the church stands on four pillars, which are preaching the the Saviour Jesus Christ, the Baptiser, the Healer and Coming King. The executive member of the Ghana Pentecostal and Charismatic Council urged the media not to rush in reporting the news, but check their facts and figures well.
