All Set For BarCamp Accra
18.12.2014 LISTEN

BarCamp Accra 2014 is a free networking event to bring people together for a day of discussion, demos and dialogue about Accra, Ghana and beyond. The event shall be held on December 20 at Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology.

The theme is also “Expanding Excellent Enterprises”. This Barcamp event will be the 42nd organized by the GhanaThink Foundation, as part of its Barcamp Ghana program which is building a network of change makers, doers and entrepreneurs. Barcamp Accra is the 8th Barcamp in Accra since the very first one on December 23, 2008.

GhanaThink celebrates its 10th anniversary this year. Its director, Ato Ulzen-Appiah, captures the excitement. “We've come of age and life has really begun as we've hit 40 Barcamps. The vim is spreading, and more individual value and collaborative success will follow”.

Over the 6 years of Barcamps in Ghana, the Barcamp Ghana program has championed 'starting up'. We've seen the creation of many Ghanaian-owned entreprises. Many of these are excelling, winning recognition locally and internationally, especially those from the Meltwater Entrepreneurial School of Technology. Now, we need to see these enterprises grow.

There will also be the popular speed mentoring sessions. Confirmed mentors include Bridget Otoo (TV3), Rosy Fynn (Surfline), Anima Misa (Sapphire Productions), Afua Ankomah (Grameen Foundation), Stephanie Aboagye (EY), Tanko Mohammed (GNFoods), Samues Moses Agyemang (MediaPop), Inna Patty (Miss Ghana), Christabel Dadzie (Ahaspora), Alex Bram (SMS GH), Selorm Branttie (mPedigree), Anita Erskine (Viasat1), Nana Yaw Asiedu (Oxford & Beaumont), Caroline Sampson (YFM), Raja Owusu Ansah (Republic), Regina Agyare (TechNeedsGirls), Hamdiya Ismaila (Venture Capital Ghana), Franklin Cudjoe (IMANI Ghana), Esi Ansah (Axis HCL), Etse Sikanku (Legon
Lecturer), Beryl Agyekum (Echo Haus), Tetteh Odjidja (Tema Doctor), Jeanne Clark (US Embassy),
Abigail Larbi (MFWA), Akua Nyame-Mensah (Lamudi), Nicole Amartefio (An African City), etc.

At Barcamp Accra, we will discuss, in interactive sessions, what some Ghanaian entreprises are doing well and how they can expand. A lot of interesting things happened in Ghana in 2014. Some of the main topics will be discussed during our breakout sessions with various people at the forefront of these.

We are keen to make all voices count, and this is evident in the diversity of resource personnel attending Barcamp Accra. We'll cap off the day with these intimate interactive sessions.
