Ndoum's in-Law to contest KEEA Seat again

The Brother- in- Law of Dr. Papa Kwesi Nduom, Founder and flagbearer of the 2012 Progressive People's Party (PPP) , has picked nomination forms to contest the Komenda- Edina Eguafo-Abrem (KEEA) Constituency seat on the party's ticket in 2016.

Mr. John Sterlin, who contested in 2012 but lost to Mr. Kodwo Annan, would be battling it out with Mrs. Doreen Manieson, the 2012 candidate, who replaced Mr. Annan after constituency executives had cast a vote of no confidence in him.

At a press conference after picking the forms at the party's office in Elmina, on Friday, Mr. Sterlin stated that he was not daunted that he lost the 2012 primary.

However, he rejected allegations that he was using his relationship with Dr. Nduom to win votes.

“Dr. Nduom stayed neutral … he did nothing to show that he had given me a head start… I certainly couldn't have joined the race because of my relationship … but on the accord of my own strength as someone capable of winning the KEEA seat for PPP,” he stated.

Mr. Sterlin stressed the need for the party to settle its internal matters to put it at a level where it would be competitive in the 2016 elections.

He said his allegiance to the constituency as a native of Elmina gave him an upper hand over his competitor since he knew almost every possible trick of their opponents and the kind of issues the constituency faced.

He would, therefore, be in a better position to strategize and win the seat, he said.

“I am here as a unifier and to offer you the kind of grassroots leadership that is required for our party to wrestle the KEEA seat,” he said. “I am here to think together with you; to lead you in a house to house campaign and to lead a very decent political campaign that the KEEA deserves”.

Mr.Sterlin expressed worry over what he described as the “incompetence” of both the ruling government and the main opposition party   and called for a unified voice to kick them out and elect the PPP.

He said the Constituency was left with no other choice than to allow the PPP rescue it from what it described as the “political bondage” in which the constituency found itself.

“…if the PPP can make the necessary inroads in 2016 then we need fearless leadership who will say it as it is; a leadership that is well connected to help  bring  the kind of development  we need… And that leader I dare say is John Sterlin…”, he declared
