Sacked Pupil Teachers Accuse Mahama Of Selectiveness

ABOUT 300 sacked pupil teachers have issued a press statement challenging President John Mahama to investigate the litany of corruption charges levelled against the MCE of Wenchi, Hakibu Dauda, by his own party members, published in the November 24, 2014 edition of the DAILY GUIDE.

In the said publication, some concerned NDC youth in the municipality alleged that Alhaji Hakibu Dauda had presented fake certificates and qualifications on his curriculum vitae (CV) to land the current MCE job.

The current situation is generating a huge hue and cry in the municipality, as most members of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) have become laughing stocks in the municipality.

Some pupil teachers who were sacked sometime ago in the municipality for presenting fake certificates to the Ghana Education Service (GES) have registered their displeasures, claiming that the MCE should as well be sacked if 'some of us were also sacked for presenting fake certificates which the GES claimed we presented before we were appointed.'

The leader of the group, Nkansah Gyima, told DAILY GUIDE that 'if a whole MCE, who is supposed to be the representative of the President in the municipality, is accused of possessing fake certificates and he is allowed to stay in office', they see no reason why they too should be sacked for presenting fake certificates.

According to Mr Gyimah, the leader of the group, 'What is good for the goose is equally good for the gander.'

He added that if the government fails to investigate the allegation levelled against the MCE concerning his certificates, 'we will look as if in Ghana we have laws made separately for the privileged and the under-privileged', warning that 'we will also come out with a list of government appointees who are in government with fake certificates.'

In a related issue, the concerned NDC youth have petitioned the Brong Ahafo Regional Minister and the Regional NDC Chairman to wade into the litany of allegations that have been levelled against the MCE in order to ascertain the veracity of the issue.

Kwame Darko Dumfe, the secretary to the group, also pointed out that the GH¢47,000 which the MCE withdrew from the Bepotim L/A Primary School feeding programme account should be accounted for.
