Deputy Ashanti regional Minister, Joseph Yammin has commended the agencies that worked on the Electronic Conflict Map of Ghana.

At the launch of the Map in Kumasi, the Deputy regional Minister stated that “there cannot be any meaningful search for peace without a reliable mechanism to prevent and control conflict.”

He also explained the importance of the Conflict Map saying; “apart from providing the needed information for proper decision making by security agencies, and other peace collaborators, the availability of the electronic version of the map will make it easy for use and thereby enhance information sharing for the efficient management of potential conflicts in the country.… the conflict map will also help security agencies and other stakeholders in the country to intensify their proactive approaches to preventing the escalation of violence.”

The Deputy Minister lauded the National Peace Council, the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) and other donor agencies who sponsored the making of the map.

He hoped all stakeholders particularly those involved in the management of peace and security will make maximum use of the document to enable the sustenance of peace and security in the country.
