A Ghanaian clergyman and herbalist who recently claimed to have the recipe to manufacture a medicine that can prevent the spread of the deadly Ebola Virus as well as provide a total cure is in the news again. This time he says he has manufactured the drug and is daring any concerned person to send it to any Ebola infected country or apply it on any infected patient.

The spiritualist, Bishop Laud Sowatey Lomotey who pastors the Accra based Jerusalem Pentecostal Church is also widely known for predicting several national and international incidences long before they happen. He says the medicine is a spiritually inspired revelation from God and as such he does not doubt its efficacy, adding that the Ebola disease is also spiritually inspired disease and must be tackled as such.

He told Spy News Agency in an exclusive interview that he is ready to release the medicine for testing by any institution that wants to do so. He said he is not looking for money or fame as have been suggested in some quarters and that he is only obeying the instructions as revealed to him by God for mankind.

“I have been pastoring for about 38 years now, I have held big crusades across Africa to win souls for God so what more fame do I want again,” he asked rather rhetorically.

He will not reveal the ingredients he used in preparing the medicine because God has not instructed him to do so, but said it is a very common local ingredient found in most African homes. “Anybody who wants to test this drug can come for it and go and do so in any laboratory. I know it won't prove anything good to them; but I can assure you that when it is practically tested on Ebola patients it will be fast and effective. Ebola is both spiritual and physical problem and we must tackle it as such,” he stated.

When the Spy News Team visited his prayer camp at Tse Addo, a suburb of Accra recently, we indeed saw the medicines on display. Some were caped in different sizes of transparent bottles while others were placed in rubber bowls and left in the sun to dry. The medicine is in the form of a grounded tree back mixed with some powdered substances. It is tasteless but has the aroma of a freshly truncated tree.

Pushed further for the ingredients, Bishop Lomotey said “the ingredients are very common, they can be found in every country, all communities and it is something that is used in almost every home. They are edible too. A mixture of all that will give you a spiritually inspired medicine to cure Ebola,” he stated.

Bishop Lomotey who also claims to be a spiritualist is on record to have predicted the death of former Ghanaian president, the late Professor John Evans Atta Mills in 2012. He was very specific with the date and it came to pass. According to him, if the state authorities had acted on his advise that bad incidence would not have hit the nation at the time it did.

Recently, he predicted that the Ghanaian cedi was going to stabilize from September and as at the time of going to press with this story, the currency has seen significant improvement and relative stabilization. He told Spy News Agency in an earlier interview in August that there would be massive strikes, demonstrations and labor agitations in Ghana in the Month of October and November. He specifically mentioned that the strikes would be sparked by labor unions and if not well handled it might lead to serious fatalities.

Early this year, Bishop Lomotey predicted that some key members of the clergy were going to die during the course of the year among others. It is instructive to say that Rev. Dr Annor Yeboah and Dr. Myles Monroe have so far passed on to higher glories.

Asked about the exact role he want the Ghanaian government to play in all these, he said in view of the fact that the drugs have not been scientifically tested on any Ebola patient yet “I want the government to help take the medicine to Ebola infected counties and practically test it on them Ebola patients”. He said any authority from any Ebola infected country can also come for the medicine and go and try it.

“It should be tested on people who have already been infected with the virus,” he stated.

On how the Ebola virus can be prevent from entering a country like Ghana, he said all the government has to do is to spray the drugs on the borders of the country and “Ebola can never enter into Ghana,” he emphasized.

On the future of the disease, he said scientists would eventually find a cure but this will take a while to happen. He ruled out the possibility of anybody finding a cure for the Ebola virus this year.
