Matilda Amissah Arthur -Donates To Kinder Paradise Orphanage

The Wife of the Vice President, Mrs. Matilda Amissah-Arthur, has urged parents in the country to help our children to become future leaders.

She said as parents and guardians we must act as role models for our children and also see to it that they shine, so the need tostop mediocrity and complacency by shelving the bad and negative attitudes so that they won't copy.

Mrs. Amissah-Arthur gave the advice onSaturday during a visit to Kinder Paradise, an orphanage at Prampram, in the Dangme East District of the Greater Accra Region, when she joined them celebrate their 16th year anniversary celebration and also to interact with the children.

She advised the children in the orphanage to learn work hard and give maximum respect to their caregivers Mrs. Amissah Arthur took the opportunity to thank the various sponsors who have made it possible for Kinder Paradise to succeedin care-given to the poor and the less privileged in society for a better future of our children.

Kinder Paradise, meaning Children's Paradise in the German language is a Christian charitable institution, which cares for impoverished, marginalised, socially neglected and children deprived of their rights.

Mrs Amissah-Arthur, a friend to Kinder Paradise for the past four years, said it had been her practice to visit the orphanage at least twice in a year, and called on Ghanaians to come on board and help children in orphanages.

She said as part of her cooperate social responsibilities to the children this Christmas she donated food items – bags of rice, cooking oil, candies, drinks, as well as some educational materials such as pens, pencils, and exercise books to support the children.

Mrs. Amissah Arthur used the occasion to wish the children and the staff a prosperous year, and God's blessings.

As part of the anniversary celebration the children put up some performances in poetry recitals, bible verses, sang,drama, Cultural dance and a host of educational activities to entertain the visitors.

Madam Silke Roesner, Director of Kinder Paradise, said it was her greatest wish to see the children grow up to become independent, self-confident and responsible members of their communities.

Kinder Paradise was established in October, 1998, as an orphanage. It has 74 inmates – 29 girls and 45 boys – who are being provided with education from nursery to junior high school levels.
