The prevailing widespread hardships and sufferings in Ghana have compelled the masses to constantly worry and agitate. On the other hand, our institutions and leadership seem to be dealing with these hardships and sufferings.
Therefore, one may ask that are the masses impatient and pessimistic or our institutions are inefficient in relation to these hardships and sufferings?
The emphatic answer is yes for this dual question but the first part of the question has 40% of the yes and the last part has 60% of the yes.
The inefficiency of our institutions and leadership largely triggers the impatience and pessimism of the masses. Our institutions and leadership are effective but not efficient. Effectiveness is working in the intended way but efficiency is the quality of doing something effectively (in the intended way) without time, money and/or energy wastage.
Moreover, in general terms, our institutions work as intended and even produce results, but they do not work in time, in a cost-effective manner and not maximise energies, which are a result of our challenged economic environment. This worrying phenomenon sends a bad message to the masses that things are not getting better. Therefore, the masses are under pressure not to continue experiencing the hardships and sufferings and to foresee the worst things.
However, our institutions and leadership should cooperate well with the masses in solving our own problems so that the masses would confidently turn their impatience and pessimism into patience and optimism. But even before that happens, the masses should add at least an iota of PATRIOTIC HOPE to their impatience and pessimism. (Dated 23-11-14).
