ASHANTI REGIONAL MINISTER SNUBS ”NA TIER 2 NO WO HE” DEMONSTRATORS

The Ashanti Minister Hon. Samuel Sarpong has denied his attention for the twelve labour unions demonstrators who hit on the roads in Kumasi metropolis today when they got to regional coordinating council they are expected as usual to present their petition to the regional minister but did not.

The twelve labour union's demonstrators that include Nat, Nagrat, Tewu, CCT, HSWU, GRNA, GHPA, and GMA among others, hits the streets in Kumasi chanting to express the concerns on the tier-2 pension scheme.

Despite the issue with the labour union pending at the law court, executives of the union declared demonstration in the two major cities in Accra and Kumasi after the last sitting of the court, adjourning to case to November 24th. In Kumasi the organizers and leaders of the demonstration failed to send their petition through the regional minister to the president.

The thousand demonstrators who got to the regional coordinating council refuse to send their petition to the regional minister as expected from them by the coordinating council.

The Ashanti regional minister Hon. Samuel sarpong responding to this said, he is very surprise why executives refuse to bring their concern as petition to him the minister.

He expressed disappointment in the leaders of the unions on their refusal to bring petition through his office as the minister.

According to him, he really sympathizes with the workers and was expecting to get their grievance in formal manner to send to the president.

Speaking in an interview with the modern news the minister said, he see's the demonstration as useless without any motive. He snubs the demonstrators by giving his attention to them when they got to the regional coordinating office, on their refusal to bring petition to him.

The minister did not see the essence of their coming to the office without any formal petition.

Meanwhile, the Ashanti regional chairman for the coalition of concern teachers (CCT) kingsly Animadu Darko in response said, they are this time using a unique way to express their grievance. He said, the condition they found themselves in now in not petition matter.

According to him, there is most time they have sent numerous petitions to the regional minister during demonstration but prevail null.

He said, the unions this time around not to go by any paper works, but will continue to demonstrate until government listen to them.
