Prophet Daniel Nkansah
The robbery trial of Prophet Daniel Nkansah, a failed presidential hopeful and founder of the New Vision Pentecostal Church, took a dramatic turn yesterday when his counsel, C.A. Chambers, for the second time, abandoned him in the dock.

It may be recalled that some weeks ago, Mr. Chambers, who had earlier told his client that he would be in the court at 1:30 pm to continue with the cross-examination of Stephen Ped Andam, the complainant in the case, eventually failed to turn up.

Probably moved by the action of his lawyer, Prophet Nkansah asked if Inspector Emmanuel Afful, the prosecutor in the case, would allow him (Prophet Nkansah) to cross-examine Ped Andam himself.

At the hearing of the case yesterday, the matter was not different.

Prophet Nkansah's counsel was nowhere to be found, compelling him (Nkansah) to           cross-examine Joseph Odame Fynn, the second prosecution witness in the trial.

The cross-examination by the controversial man of God, interspersed with objections by the judge and the prosecution, lasted over 20 minutes.

Police Inaction
Prophet Nkansah said he had brought the other accomplices in the case to rescue his son from the hands of the complainant because the police had failed to respond to his son's complaint which was earlier lodged at the Darkuman Police Station and later at the Dansoman Police Station.

According to him, his son, like any other citizen has the right to defend himself during an attack, insisting that the guys he brought were members of his church.

The failed presidential hopeful told the court, presided over by Francis Obiri, that the charge of robbery preferred against him had been framed up by the witness and his boss (Ped Andam) in order to malign him.

He was emphatic that none of his accomplices took anything from the offices of the complainant.

“Your own workers might have stolen those items from office and not my men,” he argued.

'Report Well'
Seconds after he had been whisked away by officers of the Prison Service, he told the DAILY GUIDE reporter in the court, “Go and report, go and report my cross-examination. Go and report well.”

The controversial man of God is facing six counts of conspiracy to rob and robbery with his son, Daniel Boahene Nkansah Jnr, and eight others – two of whom are currently at large.

They are said to have robbed Andam on February 1 of his Samsung S4, iPhone, Dell laptop with charger, cheque books, international driver's licence, certificates, iPad 32GB and GH¢55,000.

Prophet Nkansah, in connivance with his son and the 10 others, are also alleged to have made away with a Blackberry Q10 mobile phone and GH¢500 belonging to one Geshon Essel, while another person, Billy Apeku Ken, also claims his Samsung mobile phone, Dell laptop and GH¢750 are missing.

The fourth complainant, Isaac Tetteh Korgbey, is also accusing the man of God and the 11 others of stealing his Dell laptop and Sony video camera. One Emmanuel Nana Kwaku Badu has also complained of his missing wallet containing GH¢1,000 and ID cards.

Prophet Nkansah, his son and the others have all pleaded not guilty to the charges.

Sitting continues tomorrow.
