Cop Killed On Duty

The Eastern Regional Police Command is investigating the death of one of its personnel.

Corporal Mark Azure was allegedly hit by a runaway driver while on duty at Tinkong in the company of another cop.

His colleague has since not been able to give details of the so-called vehicle that ran over Azure and killed him instantly over the weekend.

A source said the so-called accident is unbelievable and inexplicable.

He said the police administration has begun a rigorous internal interrogation and is gathering intelligence to unravel the mystery behind the killing of the cop.

It is unclear what necessitated the bizarre incident which led to the death of the cop, who is said to have had a weapon on him at the time.

A source said police have not been able to find the magazine in the weapon since the incident occurred.

Except the confirmation of the death of the cop, DAILY GUIDE was not able to get any answers to questions posed to the Deputy Regional Commander.

ACP Azuma Abass described the cop's death as very pathetic, especially coming at the heels of the death of the MTTD Regional Commander, C/Supt Samuel Tetteh, who died a few days earlier.

Azure's remains have since been deposited at the police hospital in Accra awaiting autopsy.
