Everybody in Mahama's government is a 'King Kong' - Kwesi Pratt
19.11.2014 LISTEN

Managing Editor of the Insight newspaper, Kwesi Pratt Junior has lashed out at some officials in the current administration, whom he says have made of themselves 'monsters' that cannot be controlled.

According to him, virtually everyone in the John Mahama-led government has grown bigger than the authority that appointed them and shows no regard to such.

The senior journalist cum socio-political commentator made the comment Wednesday November 19, 2014, on Metro TV's 'Good Morning Ghana' programme over interviews granted by the High Commissioner to the UK, Victor Smith in connection with the arrest of a Ghanaian lady by the UK authorities for allegedly smuggling cocaine into that country.

Nayele Ametepe who also bears an Austrian passport, is in the grip of the Scotland Yard officials following her arrest at the Heathrow Airport ostensibly carrying 12.5 kilograms of cocaine into the UK.

Speaking on Adom FM's 'Dwaso Nsem' Morning Show Monday, Mr. Smith indicated among others, his decision to detail two of the embassy's staff to visit the lady and assist her if needed.

“Victor Smith opened his mouth too wide”, Mr. Pratt proclaimed.

He added: “In this [Mahama] government, everybody is a 'King Kong' ”.

Wikipedia describes 'King Kong' as “a giant movie monster resembling a colossal gorilla that has appeared in various media since 1933…His role in the different narratives varies, ranging from a rampaging monster to a tragic anti-hero”.

Mr. Pratt said the intervention by Mr. Smith was needless, wondering if the country's representative to the UK sought clearance from the Presidency before embarking on such a mission.
