Nayele Ametefeh aka Ruby Adu Gyamfi aka Angel
Details are emerging about the Ghanaian lady, Nayele Ametefeh, also known as Ruby Adu-Gyamfi, who was busted for carrying 12 kilograms of cocaine worth £3.5 million ($5 million) at the London Heathrow Airport in the United Kingdom.

Nayele Ametefeh, who was said to be in possession of three passports including a Ghanaian diplomatic passport and an Austrian passport, has been charged with drug smuggling after Border Force officers at Heathrow's Terminal 5 seized 12 kg of grade A cocaine from her.

The suspect was said to be noted for carrying different names at different times and rubbing elbows with powerful persons in society.

The news of the arrest of the drug courier broke last weekend, with some linking her to the corridors of power in Ghana, particularly the ruling party under President John Mahama.

But Communications Minister, Edward Omane-Boamah, denied any links with government in a message posted on his Facebook wall.

According to him, the woman “does not hold a diplomatic passport and was not acquainted with the first family.”

She is said to be holding Ghanaian and Austrian citizenship.

Her Ghanaian passport number is GO364497 while her Austrian passport number is P4187659.

Nayele Ametefeh was stopped on Monday, November 10, 2014 after arriving on a flight from Accra, Ghana, travelling business class.

'Following searches on her baggage, officers recovered cocaine. The drugs are currently being analysed for purity and are likely to have a final value totalling several million pounds,' Heathrow Villager , a free community newspaper reported last week.

Border Force officers also seized £6,063 in cash on her.

Ms Ametefeh, 32, of Accra, Ghana, was arrested by Border Force and later questioned by investigators from the National Crime Agency's Border Policing Command and charged with attempting to import a class A drug.

She appeared at Uxbridge Magistrates' Court on Tuesday November 11, and was remanded in custody until her next appearance at Isleworth Crown Court on November 27, 2014.

NACOB
The Narcotics Control Board (NACOB) followed up with a statement last night that the arrest of the Nayele was through collaborative efforts with its British partners.

'On the 9th November, 2014, one Ms Nayele Ametefeh boarded British Airways flight number BA 078 from Accra to London. She was arrested at Heathrow International Airport,' said the statement signed by Richard Nii Lante Blankson, NACOB's Deputy Executive Director.

The suspect travelled on a first class ticket using travel miles on British Airways point.

The ticket had been purchased on October 8, 2014 and was altered three times, the statement added.

'In her possession she had two suitcases. Only one of the suitcases was checked in (baggage tag number BA 059801) and nothing of interest was found. In the other suitcase which was believed to be hand carried on to the plane, l0kgs of cocaine was found among her clothing. The cocaine was wrapped in one kilo blocks. In her hand bag, she had another two kilos (blocks).

'It is worthy of note that Ms Nayele Ametefe travelled on Austrian passport number P4187659 and not on Ghanaian Diplomatic passport as being speculated. She also had in her possession an ordinary Ghanaian passport number G0364497 issued on 3rd August, 2012.

'Investigations are still ongoing,' it stated.
