Accra, 18TH November 2014 – Nominations for the 2015 Green Star Awards is still open till the 15TH of December 2015. The Green Star Awards recognize individuals, organizations, governments and companies that demonstrate remarkable achievements in raising awareness, building capacity, and effectively responding to environmental emergencies.

The Green Start Awards is a joint initiative between Green Cross International (GCI), the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) and United Nations EnvironmentProgramme (UNEP).

Green Cross Ghana is the Ghanaian national affiliate of Green Cross International (GCI), a leading environmental organization founded by President Mikhail Gorbachev in 1993.

Founded by Mubarick Masawudu in 2009, Green Cross Ghana is a non-profit and non-governmental organization that works to address the inter-connected global challenges of security, poverty and environmental degradation through a combination of high-level advocacy and local projects.

Selection of awardees will be based on achievements in the three Awards categories: Preparedness and Prevention; Response; Environment and Humanitarian Action. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Norway will host the ceremony.
