The National Council of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) yesterday met to consider the nomination and subsequent appointment of some persons to fill vital positions in the party.

Key among them was former Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea, who was said to have been made the Director of Communications of the party again, with tough-talking former National Youth Organiser, Anthony Abayifa Karbo, as one of his deputies, a source told DAILY GUIDE .

Also, the National Council of the party, which is the highest decision-making body after congress, was said to have confirmed the nominations of Daniel Denteh and one Nuhu Mahama as Deputy Organisers to work with the substantive National Organiser, John Boadu.

Salam Mustapha and one Dominic Kwesi Eduah were confirmed as deputies to the National Youth Organiser of the NPP, Sammi Awuku, whilst the names of Madam Diana Karikari and Hajia Saudatu emerged as deputies for the party's National Women's Organiser, Otiko Afisa Djaba.

The newly reconstituted NPP Electoral Reforms Committee is to be chaired by Vice Presidential Candidate, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia.

Other members of the committee include Mr Eugene Antwi, who would be the secretary; one Joe Mensah, said to be an Information Communications Technology (ICT) expert; former National Chairman, Peter Mac Manu; Professor Mike Oquaye; lawyer Adwoa Safo and Dr Matthew Opoku Prempeh, affectionately called Napo.

At the time of filing this report, leadership of the party was still locked behind closed doors deliberating on other nominations, including that for the position of deputy general secretary, with the name of former Deputy Interior Minister, Nana Obiri Boahen, making the rounds as top on the cards and likely to be given the position.
