BUSAC Fund Supports Private Sector Advocacy Training For Ghana's Young Entrepreneurs

A three day workshop on private sector advocacy training for Ghanaian youth entrepreneurs ended in Accra on Sunday. The workshop which was organized by the Alliance of young Entrepreneurs (AYE) with support from the Business Sector Advocacy Challenge (BUSAC) fund is to built capacity and advocate for young entrepreneurs across the country and encourage the creation of jobs.

The chairman of AYE, Alain A. Gbeasor at the closing ceremony said youth development and employment is very critical if Ghana as a country is to develop.

According to him, job creation must not be left to government alone. Active participation of the private sector in this area is key for poverty reduction and overall economic growth.

Mr. Gbeasor prayed the government especially the ministry of Education to make the training and teaching of entrepreneurship an important component of school curriculum.

The training and teaching of entrepreneurship at all levels of the educational sector he said, will well prepare and equip graduate to be more business oriented and independent after school hence reducing the burden of government for job creation.

Tonyi Senayah, the president of AYE and the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Horseman Shoes was optimistic about the potential of the Ghanaian youth.

He said there are many youth groups and organizations doing great in private enterprise amidst the challenges that confronts the sector in the country.

Mr. Senaya made a passionate appeal to government to create an enabling environment that is responsive to the youth in the Ghanaian private sector to effectively contribute to the development agenda.

He announced that, the Alliance of Young Entrepreneurs will earnestly begin a one year advocacy campaign for the Ghanaian youth entrepreneurs across the country.
