Tema, June 30, GNA - The Tema Circuit Court 'A' has remanded into custody an auto-mechanic on a charge of stealing a Hyundai Pony car sent to him for repairs.
Christopher Gbedze pleaded not guilty and will reappear on June 18 2004.
Inspector Adolphus Otchere, prosecuting, told the Court, presided over by Mr Charles Asiedu, that in February this year, one Nii Jerry sent his taxicab with registration number GT 5799 N to the accused for repairs.
He said the owner called at his workshop later to pick up the car but could not trace it and when he questioned the accused, he could not tell him the whereabouts of the car.
Nii Jerry, therefore, made a report to the Ashaiman Police, who arrested the accused.
The Court heard that Gbedze admitted selling the car at four million cedis but said he was unable to trace the buyer.
