NPP NPP Meets Over Fresh Appointments
NOV 4, 2014 LISTEN

Perry Okudzeto
Leadership of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) will today meet to consider the nomination of certain individuals to fill some key positions in the party.

Key among them is the position of a substantive director of communication, which has remained vacant for quite some time now.

Until recently when the Acting Director of Communications, Perry Curtis Okudzeto, was relieved of the post and asked to proceed on compulsory leave under bizarre circumstances by the National Chairman and the General Secretary, Paul Afoko and Kwabena Agyepong respectively, the position was held by former Member of Parliament (MP) for Okaikoi South, Nana Akomea.

Perry has since been reduced to the position of a deputy director of communications since resuming duty and left to be loitering at the NPP headquarters with no specific roles assigned to him. Other persons – Pius Enam Hadzide and Michael Ampong – both of who contested for the position of National Youth Organiser but lost to Sammi Awuku – have been appointed as deputy directors of communications under equally strange circumstances.

These appointments have generated a huge furore in the party, since most of the appointments, including that of the Director of Finance and Administration, Edwin Tettey – were said not to have been done on the blind side of the NPP's Steering Committee, National Executive Committee or the party's National Council.

Today's crucial Steering Committee meeting, which would see the party's flagbearer, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, in attendance, would therefore seek to correct some of these anomalous appointments.

Sources at the NPP's Asylum Down headquarters have hinted DAILY GUIDE that the name of Perry Okudzeto has again resurfaced as one of those being considered for appointment as a substantive director of communications.

There would also be a composition of a new communications team to espouse the party's position on various platforms, including mainstream media and social media.

Other persons are expected to be appointed to serve on the various committees of the party.
