OCT 31, 2014 LISTEN

The Managing Director of B5 Plus Limited, a steel industry in Ghana, has charged corporate institutions to contribute actively to the country's development by implementing social projects that will have positive impact.

“I will request all my corporate friends to also participate in big social responsibilities. If everybody does something positive, I think we will make Ghana a better place,” Mr. Mukesh Thakwani told XFM.

At a colourful event in Tema to commemorate this year's Diwali Hindu Festival, Mr. Thakwani said, “as Diwali signifies that you have to enlighten people's lives, Ghana is our country and the best way I believe we can give back to society is through education”.

The B5 Plus Group has established a one of a kind international school which aims is to improve the quality of education of it's over 2,000 pupils at both primary and junior level.

DPS is furnished with top-class facilities that are designed to give the students the right atmosphere for high academic training.

The School recently received an award for the Best Inspirational Institute in West Africa from the World Confederation of Businesses (WORLDCOB) based in the US.

The Delhi Public School which is located in Community 25 has its share of challenges and the director points out the bad road network as one of their main problems. He was also concerned about the erratic power and water supply which hampers the smooth running of the school.

He therefore entreated the authorities to also do their part in expanding the infrastructure in the country.

“When you are coming to DPS there are many potholes on the road, the infrastructure should be developed, there should be good road networks, sometimes electricity and water could be out for 15 days and that is not good”, he added.

The group has also established a trust fund known as the B5 Plus Care which provides financial support to brilliant but needy students and have other projects to create boreholes for communities that lack water.

He hopes that all companies will develop the interest to invest back into society and advised that “Ghana is our motherland, we should try all we can to make it a better place”.
