31.10.2014 LISTEN

Chairman of the Greater Accra Regional Secretaries Forum of the ruling NDC, Victor Quarshie Adonoo has challenged the NDC to elect persons who can impact positively on the party as it goes into the 2016 elections.

Launching his campaign after he picked forms to contest the Greater Accra Regional Secretary position of the party on Friday, he said the absence of quality leadership will negatively affect the entire organization.

“To this end, those who offer to lead this party must deeply appreciate its mission and vision as a political party and as a Government.

“The mission of being the natural governing party of choice by majority of Ghanaians; by winning elections through good governance, mass grassroots' mobilization and support. This sacred mission cannot be lost on the party especially; you the delegates.”

Victor Quarshie, who is the former Secretary of the Ayawaso Central constituency of NDC, said the superior vision of the party is to preside over a prosperous and a greater nation inspired by democratic socialism - underpinned by the empowerment of its citizens through equal opportunities.

To enhance access to information and help project the aspirations of the party, he promised to set up the NDC Greater Accra Regional website.

So far three people including Victor Quarshie Adonoo have expressed their interest for the position.

THE OFFICIAL LAUNCH OF HON. VICTOR QUARSHIE ADONOO'S CAMPAIGN TO BECOME THE GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL SECRETARY

THEME/TOPIC : TOWARDS A BETTER, EFFECTIVE ADMINISTRATION AND MANAGEMENT OF NDC GREATER ACCRA REGIONAL PARTY'S SECRETARIAT.

Good Morning Ladies and Gentlemen of the Media.
I wish to express my profound gratitude for your presence, particularly my well wishers and party supporters.

Today, together we have taken a step of great political faith to give a greater leadership in the position of the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of this great party.

The NDC like any visionary organization/institution of repute must be impacted by men/women who lead it and/or who offer to lead it. This call for a greater leadership; for when leadership is missing and/or absent the entire organization/institution suffers.

To this end, those who offer to lead this party must deeply appreciate its mission and vision as a political Party and as a Government.

The mission of being the natural governing party of choice by majority of Ghanaians; by winning elections through good governance, mass grassroots' mobilization and support. This sacred mission cannot be lost on the party especially; you the delegates.

Our superior vision, of prosperous and a greater nation inspired by democratic socialism – underpinned by empowerment of its Citizens through equal opportunities.

Therefore, it is within this objective reality of leadership position beyond the critical administrative role that, I hereby seek your mandate to become the Regional Secretary of the NDC Party in the Greater Accra Region.

Given the opportunity, I shall work diligently towards my vision of transforming the Regional Administrative Secretariat into a centre of excellence which is responsive, accessible and accountable to the political course of all the constituencies under the political jurisdiction of the Region.

To realize my vision, I have set out the following objective areas of my administration to assist improve upon the working position of the region in fulfilling the needs and aspirations of the principal organs of the Party, particularly the national and the Greater Accra Regional Constituencies;

CO-ORDINATION: This is to accommodate and integrate the diverse needs of the constituencies under the region into the laid down administrative duties/functions and responsibilities of each elected regional executives to promote mutual political relationships/interests. This is necessary to respect the character and urgent needs of leadership of the constituencies.

FACILITATION: To address incapacitations of regional constituencies in their administrative functional roles – urgency is needed to co-ordinate resources from the region/national to position leadership of the constituencies to be more effective. This requires streamlining the regional bureaucratic administrative structure to conform to the needs of constituencies. This administrative reform cannot be delayed and/or deferred if we are to retain political power in 2016.

The measures that will be taken include the following;

To review the working relationship with constituencies, particularly the secretaries to facilitate the provision of essential resources to improve office administration

Promote welfare of constituency secretaries to encourage greater collaboration between regions and constituencies

To progressively accelerate ICT education and training of constituency secretaries

CO-OPERATION: The leadership of the constituencies in the region is in need of constant support for their programme based administrative functions. These programmes which are often activities driven are in need of co-ordination, task allocations and support from regional leadership. To facilitate the functional duties and responsibilities of both regional and constituency executives - An Information Management Programme will be established and duly supported by a proposed NDC Greater Accra Regional Secretariat website to enhance co-ordination and facilitation of programme schedules to the mutual benefit of both regional and constituency leadership.

The setting-up of the NDC Greater Accra Regional website is to keep the Party base informed of developments in the Party and also to educate them on programmes and activities in other constituencies

The above objective areas are to strengthen the Regional Administrative Secretariat to position it within my objective vision to enable me function effectively as the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC.

To achieve all these, I need your support/votes to become the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC. Given my working knowledge of the organizational structure of the Party, commanding appreciation of the Party's constitution as well as my grassroots' activism affords me the needed experience and/or competitive advantage to manage effectively the Regional Secretariat as the Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the Party.

On this note, I declare my campaign officially launch.
