Statement From The Progressive "Watchdogs" Of Ghana's Democracy And Elected Governments

Members of the above group sympathetic to the current administration upon intensive study of happening on the political landscape,deem it necessary issuing out this statement to alert Ghanaians of plans being hatched by certain reactionary elements to destabilize the system and to assure them of the preparedness of the progressive youth to thwart any such move.

The most usual way of thinking about freedom is to picture it as freedom from something,for example,the freedom from want and freedom from fear which Roosevelt included in his list of four essential liberties..If each one of us thinks for a little about our daily lives,we realize that there is a sharp distinction between the political organization of our society,which we call the State,and all the hundred and one activities,associations and purposes that go together to make up the total community.

The nation state must always be protected through every conventional mean,unconventional if wreckers adopt unconventional means to perpetuate their agenda.Activities by certain elements from the opposition in collaboration with some media friends point at a deliberate move to oust this government through very crude methods creating unnecessary tension and disruption of government's activities an action which shouldn't be allowed to thrive looking at the fragility of our democracy.

After the supreme court ruling,we have witnessed series of dangerous actions coming from elements of the NPP and their media friends to disrupt government activities and also create tension around through false publications,unsubstantiated allegations of corruption,inciting workers to go on demonstrations,writing of letters to international institutions not to deal with this administration and paying of huge monies to international credit rating institutions to downgrade the administration just to render the administration weak and non-operational.

We don't think this is the right thing to do considering the fact that these elements are struggling to sit on the very seat they constantly demean and denigrate.We have a very high level of effective freedom.We can worship,speak,meet,co-operate,agitate as we will,provided to keep the wide limit of the law.

We have these rights because,time and time again in our history,citizens have been ready to fight for them and prevent the suppression of the right of man and of civil liberties by the state,we however make this political mistake of thinking our demands and expectations are more important than that of other citizens.This is the card we seeing our friends at the otherside play and we want to assure them through this statement that,we will resist with all reasonable force any attempt to attack,denigrate or run down this administration and will use very effective methods to defend our administration from any regime change agenda.We find it difficult to understand why state institutions must be allowed by their leadership to be hijacked by one political organization because of this Akuffo Addo fixation.

Meetings held between some close confidants of Akuffo Addo and heads of some public institutions were recorded and currently being worked on,we wouldn't allow this Akuffo Addo fixation to truncate the peace we all enjoying.

We have good reasons why we must prepare adequately to resist suspected planned moves to destabilize the system.We herein enumerate past actions by the NPP which have necessitated the stance taken

1.They disrespectfully organized thugs under the instruction of Sir John to attack President Kufuor at his residence because the ex-President decided exercising a responsibility captured in our constitution.

2.They organized thugs to attack the studios of Asempa FM all because they suspected a presenter Bobbie Ansah was not working in their interest

3.They attacked their headquarters on three occasions using machetes,guns and other deadly weapons to attack themselves,locked their executives and gave them serious beatings.

4.They organized themselves into thug groups under the instruction of Akuffo Addo to attack NDC faithfuls at Atiwa something their flagbearer has always been proud of.

5.Kennedy Agyepong who is one of their financiers openly ordered supporters to maim and Kill Gas and Ewes.

6.A letter to the IMF from their outfit asking the institution to cancel all negotiations with this administration is right before the group.

7.Akufo-Addo was in London to incite our diasporan brothers to demonstrate in the UK to put pressure on the British government to suspend all support for this government.

These are few of the numerous diabolic machinations perpetuated by the opposition confirming their determination to make Ghana ungovernable but one serious one was when supporters of the party called for the killing of children all to make this administration unpopular.

Based on these points enumerated,we would like to assure these elements that,the above group is ready and well prepared to meet them head on should they start any dangerous move.We are going to verbally and electronically attack their leader if they continue using unsavoury language on the president of the land and will go the limitless level to make life uncomfortable for their leaders.We must protect the dignity of the Presidential seat and we promise all of doing exactly that.

On the current numerous demonstrations going on,workers must deligently analyse what triggered these incessant demonstrations and the time,workers shouldn't see these moves as leadership fighting for them,the whole idea is to support the Akuffo Addo campaign,leaders of many of these institutions have already been promised positions in the never to come Akuffo Addo administration.You have every right to fight for better working conditions but we don't support any move to play on the intelligence of the Ghanaian worker.
