Abia Metuh Goofs

I'm well convinced that the journey to Abia State recently led by Chief Olisa Metuh, the PDP's National Publicity Secretary, under the wristwatch of His Excellency, Governor Theodore Orji of Abia State, is a tour of shame.

I say that because Metuh was hypnotized and he had no obligation but to praise-sing the governor where none existed in the first, second and third places on the menu of governors that have achieved development in their respective states.

What the sermonisation of Metuh has proven is that any person who steals as far as the person is a member of the PDP, that person is not a criminal. If not, I wonder why a man widely regarded as the least governor in term of development in the country would be praised by Metuh that he has performed creditably well.

This statement by Metuh has divulged a particular angle: who knows how many millions of naira that was given to Metuh to make that speech that Governor Orji has performed very well.

That was the same fate with the now resigned Minister of Information, Labaran Maku when he said that he led a Good Governance Media Tour to Abia State. Maku garrulously and indirectly praised the (mis) governance that Abia State was.

I would like to tell Metuh to focus on his job and should not meddle in the murky politics that characterize Abia State, as that will perfectly smear his already battered image. He should stop at that and should not see going to praise the Abia governor as his oversight function.

Perhaps Metuh did not read it, an observer had said: “It may interest Chief Metuh and Governor Orji to know that good governance is a critical determinant of human progression. Hence, the challenge for all societies is to create a system of governance that promotes, supports and sustains human development.

“Good governance involves a web of networks – including public and private sectors, institutions, organizations and individual actors that can influence the development journey. It can also be seen as the exercise of economic, political and administrative authority to manage a state's affairs at all levels.

“It comprises the mechanisms, processes and institutions, through which citizens and groups articulate their interests, exercise their legal rights, meet their obligations and mediate their differences. Fundamentally, good governance has three legs: economic, political and administrative. Economic governance includes decision-making processes that affect a state's economic activities and its relationships with others…”

Since Metuh sees black in Abia and says it is white, he has goofed.
