Michael Sarpong Mfum, Brong Ahafo Regional Correspondent of The Finder Newspaper, has been adjudged the best tourism writer 2014 in the region.

The Excellence Awarded was awarded him in recognition of his outstanding achievements in the development and promotion of tourism in the Brong Ahafo Region.

The award ceremony organized by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) was under the theme: Harnessing our Tourism Resources for National Development.” The awards were in two categories, they were the honorary and competitive.

Brong Ahafo Regional Manager of the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA), Charles Obeng said the aim of the awards is to reward excellence and also promote competitive rivalry among industry players.

Mr. Obeng said those who were awarded based on fulfillment of statutory regulation, work place safety standard, decent facility adherence to quality customer service and corporate social responsibility.

Sunyani-based radio station Moonlite FM was awarded, Eusbett Hotel had the promise Hotel Award; Glamossay, 2 Star Hotel of the year, Viglosam, 1 Star Hotel of the year. The others were Boabeng-Fiame Monkey Sanctuary, visitor attraction of the year, traditional caterer of the year, Liquad's Kitchen and Drinking Bar of the year, Paradise Pub.
