A Kumasi based Legal Practitioner; James Marshall is gearing up to contest incumbent General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress, Johnson Asiedu Nketsiah.

Little is known politically of Lawyer Marshall who faces a rather stiff competition against the Chief Scribe of the governing party who led the party from opposition.

It is believed that the campaign of Mr Marshall is being funded and supported by some party big wigs in the Ashanti Region who claim, Mr Asiedu Nketiah known as General Mosquito is becoming too powerful and has usurped the powers of the other executives, which they find disturbing.

At a confidential meeting with some influential figures of the Ashanti Regional NDC, the plan aimed at ultimately unseating the incumbent General Secretary was put in motion.

This is what transpired between this reporter (Ekow Annan) and Lawyer James Marshall – who was evasive as to what his policies for the party are – when he was called to confirm whether he was indeed seeking to contest the General Secretary ship of the NDC.

Ekow Annan (E.A.): We understand you are nursing an ambition as the general secretary for the NDC party, can you confirm it to us sir?

James Marshall (J.M.): That is correct
E. A.: You want to contest Mr. Asiedu Nketiah for the position?

J. M.: Yes I do.
E. A.: So can you tell us what you bring on board and why you are contesting?

J. M.: These issues, I would in due course refer to a spokesperson who will be dealing with them. But for now what is important is that the decision has been taken to contest. Responding to questions from the press and the rest, in due course I will appoint a spokesperson who will address all these issues.

E. A.: Do you think you have what it takes to win the General Secretary ship?

J. M.: All those matters will be addressed as I just explained to you. So just be a little patient and am sure in due course you would have all these concerns addressed.

E. A.: Well my questions are premised on the fact that some are saying that you are basically a new person in the party and they haven't really heard of you.....

J.M.: Ekow, am saying that just be patient. All these matters you raised, they would be addressed, but now the most important thing is that I have taken my decision and just before the weekends, am pretty sure we will get all these concerns addressed and I will be directing you to the right person who will be speaking for me.
