NDC Office Locked

NDC Office Locked
28.10.2014 LISTEN

Hell broke loose at the office of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) at the Ahanta West constituency of the Western Region yesterday when some aggrieved party members stormed there to forcibly lock up the office.

The visibly aggrieved party activists used pieces of wood to seal off the main gate of the constituency office, making it difficult for party members to enter.

According to sources, the move stemmed from an alleged suspension of three branch members at Agona Nkwanta in the constituency.

The three were suspended for allegedly challenging and condemning the Member of Parliament (MP) for the area, George Kwame Aboagye, for purportedly writing to the President that he could not work with the DCE for Ahanta West, Joseph Dofoyena.

The suspended members are Henry Kuku Dadzie, Richard Hanson Kobina and Habakuk Ocran Yankey, who are polling station executives.

The alleged remark by the MP, to the effect that he could no longer work with Joseph Dofoyena, had angered majority of the NDC members in the constituency.

According to sources, the MP had subsequently written to President John Mahama to remove the DCE from office because he was performing poorly in the area.

Information available to DAILY GUIDE indicates that supporters of the NDC in the constituency, particularly the youth, were not happy about the alleged action taken by George Aboagye and some of his utterances against Dofoyena on some radio stations.

According to the youth, it was the DCE who did all the “donkey work” to ensure the victory of the MP in the constituency.

Some of the youth had accused Mr Aboagye of having a very sharp tongue and always ready to insult anybody at the least provocation.

'We don't like the way our MP openly and bitterly insults Joseph Dofoyena, the current Ahanta West DCE,' they asserted.

They had therefore warned of a possible skirmish if the party's national executives did nothing to address the alleged feud between the DCE and the MP.

After nailing the office, the NDC youth cut branches of trees to block the entrance of the constituency office.

When DAILY GUIDE called the constituency chairman, he confirmed the story but declined to comment further because he was at the police station making official complaint to the police.

Meanwhile, Solomon Nkansah, Deputy National Propaganda Secretary of

the NDC, had called for ceasefire in the party.
The former Western Regional Youth Organiser of the party, advised the aggrieved youth to resort to the proper avenues available for redress rather than washing their dirty linen in the open.

Commenting on the issue in an interview with DAILY GUIDE ,

Kwesi Buah, an assembly member of Mpanyinasa electoral area in the Ahanta West District, asked the MP and the DCE to stop the infighting and concentrate on the development of the area.

'Both the MP and the DCE are performing poorly in the

district and instead of them to do well to develop the area, the two have resorted to internal bickering,' he lamented.

'If you go to the villages you will see that people are suffering a lot.

Nothing has been done there, yet the NDC government is praising itself for doing a lot,' he said.

Mr Kwesi Buah made a passionate appeal to Ghanaians to vote the NDC government out of power and vote massively for the NPP in 2016 to take the country to a higher level.
