A group calling itself Coalition of Unpaid Nurses is threatening to sue government over unpaid salaries

The group insists they have not received their salaries for the past 15 months.

The group, made up of over 1000 nurses says the situation has brought untold hardship on them.

Speaking in an interview on Citi FM, the National Coordinator for the group, Mr Jefferson Asare-Danquah explained they will also demand interest accrued on their unpaid salaries when the suit is filed.

According to him, 'Government has deliberately not paid our salaries for all these months worked. The least among us has been working for seven months now. And the little that they have paid, they paid only 3 months out of the 18 months.'

He said all attempts to get government to pay them their salaries have failed.

'They brought us a sheet to fill and that after filling the forms we'll get out monies. We've done that, we've made follow ups but all of it to no avail. We've tried everything that we can…and we feel that we're being cheated,' he said.

According to Mr Asare-Danquah, the group has thus contracted a law firm to understudy their case.
