Vice President Kwesi Amissah-Arthur has commended Kosmos Energy for their kind gesture of providing $325,000 emergency donation for critical equipment for three Ebola treatment centres located at Tema, Kumasi and Tamale

He said from all the indications the country has to do a bit more of public so that the people can prepare themselves and protect themselves better.

He advised people to reduce person to person contact to avoid contracting the disease

Vice President Kwesi Amissah Arthur, made the statement when the Country Manager of Kosmos Energy Ghana Ken Keag, conferred with him at the Flagstaff House on ways by which the company can assist Ghana in providing critical equipment for three disease treatment centres.

Vice President Amissah-Arthur also stated that the country needs to raise the level of awareness of the transmission in order to be able to contain the Ebola disease.


Mr Keag who is the leader of the delegation said currently, three countries the West African sub-region namely Liberia, Sierra Leone and Guinea have been ravaged by the Ebola pandemic with over 4,500 deaths

He said Cosmos Energy Ghana Limited is providing $325,000 emergency donation for critical equipment for three Ebola treatment centres located at Tema, Kumasi and Tamale.

As part of the arrangement Kosmos is to procure and provide generators, incinerators and other needed supplies for the soon-to-be completed facilities.


Mr. Keag stated that Ghana is already playing a key role by acting as hub to support sister countries in the sub-region.

He said during the company's extensive discussion with the Ministry of Health he was assured of concerted effort being made by way preparation to contain the disease should it arrive in the country, adding that although Ghana has not yet had a confirmed case of Ebola, it is important for the nation to be prepared.

Mr Keag also noted that the donation of the critical equipment and supplies comes after extensive discussion with the Ministry of Health to understand Ghana's needs and level of preparedness.
