The Sekondi Diocese of the Methodist Church Ghana has organized a day's workshop for its youth workers in Sekondi. The workshop which is the first in a series of six brought together leaders' of both the children and the youth ministries respectively.

The training equipped the youth leaders with skills necessary for Christian formation and to function appropriately within the new restructuring where the two ministries have been bridged.

It was coordinated by the Very Reverend Michael C. Acquah and Brother Peter Dannyame with facilitators including the Diocesan Bishop, the Right Reverend Edward Ofori-Donkor, Very Reverend Kwame Amoah Mensah and Lawyer Kwesi Kwaitoo of the Kwaitoo Law Firm.

Participants were taken through; principles of leadership, time management, and preparation of youth message. They were also grouped for discussions and assignments. Participants are also expected to implement similar training in the respective circuits by the end of 2014.

In forward to the workshop Lawyer Ebenezer A. Kwaitoo remarked, ''the focus is thus to develop relevant study material that could be used to produce Christian formation in or young people who will in turn help to develop other young people for the transformation of the entire society''.

The training ended with a call for young people to be given a chance while they were also challenged to create opportunities for leadership. Superintendent Ministers were urged to cooperate with the working teams in their circuit.
