The Mayor Cutting A Sod At One Of The Schools

Mayor of the Accra Metropolitan Assembly (AMA), Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije, has expressed government's commitment to the provision of modern educational infrastructure for delivery of quality education in the country.

According to the Mayor, every successful nation build their fundamentals on the education of its children, and that Ghana must not be left out in the pursuit of giving the best of education to its children to become responsible future leaders.

Dr Alfred Okoe Vanderpuije also indicated that, the provisions of these modern facilities are in fulfillment of President Mahama's commitment to meeting the Better Ghana Agenda.

The Mayor made these remarks when he cut sods for the construction of another three respective Millennium City Schools to be situated in the Ayawaso Central Constituency of the Greater Accra Region.

The three projects are being put up in Abavanna Cluster of Schools, Maamobi Prison Yard Cluster of Schools and the Accra New Town Experimental School premises respectively.

The Mayor averred that the new school blocks to be constructed will also have a library, computer and science laboratories, washrooms, staff common room, and a suitable facility to accommodate Primary and Junior High School pupils.

The Mayor also indicated that the Assembly will ensure that the construction of the Millennium city schools would transform the schools within the metropolis into a centre of excellence, adding that the project will include ICT centers' as well as sporting facilities.

He assured the schools that the project will be completed within one year, since the works department of the Assembly will constantly monitor works on the projects to ensure smooth completion.
